A New Year – Each Person Has a Role
A new year is
around the corner and, like most people; I am reviewing the past year.
What stands out most for me are the PEOPLE. Pictou County is blessed
with so many leaders who are so generous with their time, talents,
resources, and ability to follow-through. Regardless of the size of
the gift, we receive and are thankful for the giving.
THANK YOU to all who give of themselves for others in our community. These are:
- Board members of every organization
- Parents who
ensure that their children get to practice, to 4-H, to church, to
baby-sitting jobs, and to the relatives to “spend a little time”
- Retired neighbours who make sure that their neighbours have company and assist with daily chores
- Volunteers at
the food banks, working the HelpLine (especially those shifts no one
wants), making the meals at the Shepherd’s Lunch, collecting change at
the Salvation Army Copper Kettles
- And So Many others.
A new year speaks memories of the past. I thank all members of our community for taking the time to share:
- Community dialogues
- Committee planning sessions
- Attending workshops to develop community action plans together
- Belief in the need for public transportation & the will to design something “to get people where they need to go”
And a new year speaks of Hope. Do be part of the solution. Every voice counts.
As we close this
year, I thank all for your efforts on behalf of community. I am very
optimistic that by working together, sharing, collaborating, forming
partnerships and networks, Pictou County can only grow stronger with
local solutions to increase the chance of success for every
individual. Cooperation and collaboration are the necessary keys to
being efficient, effective and responsive.
The United Way
of Pictou County wishes you and your family the peace and joy of the
season. May the New Year bring you good health, patience and
prosperity.
Everyday Community Heroes. Your gift matters because we live here.
